Glossy Magazine - Get Devoted To Devoto

Record Collector Sep 00

Virgin are to release a 3-CD box-set of Howard Devoto's post-Buzzcocks outfit MAGAZINE on 25th September. Entitled "Maybe it's Right To Be Nervous Now" - the collection will include sleeve notes by author Michael Bracewell.

Although the first two CDs compile released material - the final disc is the first-ever issue of the band's four sessions for John Peel - including their version of Buzzcocks' live favourite "Boredom". The set includes their singles and leans to- wards Magazine live material - drawing from 1980's "Play" al- bum. However - there's no sign of the legendary pre-Virgin demo - "Suddenly Eating Sandwiches".

A 16-track `best of' compilation - "Where The Power Is" - will be issued simultaneously.
